Our Values: The culture of our community is that we are a people who are:
Jesus-centred – We are a community who aspire to grow and deepen our faith, encouraging and equipping each other to become more like Jesus. (Luke 8.14-15)
Prayerful – We believe God cares about our deepest needs and cares. Nothing is too small or too big for God! We are a community who seeks after God in all areas of life with the help of His Holy Spirit. (Eph 6.18)
Missional – We believe that the message of Jesus is Good News for everyone, and has the power to transform individuals and communities. With sensitivity and compassion we long for positive Gospel transformation in our communities. We will be bold, courageous and creative in mission. (Matt 28.19-20)
Authentic – Our words and actions align to the faith in Jesus that we profess. (Gal 5.22-23: Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Gentleness, Faithfulness, and Self-control)
Relational – We treat each other with grace and love, sharing life together as an extended family, made up of people from different walks of life and backgrounds. (Acts 2.46-47)
Generous – We are a community that serves with care and compassion, being generous with our time and resources and being intentionally involved in issues of justice. (Matt 25.35-40, Mi 6.8)
The best way to find out about us and what we are really like is to come along and play your part. There is plenty opportunities for you to use the gifts God has given you - some of those you may know about and others are yet to be discovered! We are a mix of people of all ages and backgrounds.
In terms of our governance, we have an elected leadership team who serve alongside our Minister as trustees. The team are accountable to the CBC Forum (traditionally known as 'The Church Meeting') where the whole congregation have the opportunity to help shape our vision and our values.
Safeguarding is important to us and our policy can be found via the link.
We are part of the Baptist Union of Great Britain and are also active in supporting the work of the Yorkshire Baptist Association.
